Humidity Control Unit
The unit switches between drying and humidifying automatically, holding the space at your setpoint. For museums, cigar stores, laboratories, galleries, data centres and operating theatres.
An ordinary dehumidifier only works downwards and has nothing to offer in dry weather. A humidity control unit handles both directions: it dries above the setpoint and humidifies below it, holding the space at one level all year regardless of the weather outside.
Artefacts, paintings and calligraphy, wooden instruments, film and paper records all warp, become brittle or grow mould when humidity moves around. Laboratory reagents and instruments, data centre equipment, and surgical instruments and materials are equally sensitive. The value of a humidity control unit is that it keeps these risks in check over the long term, holding humidity within the set range.
Air is filtered inside the unit before it returns to the room, so air quality improves alongside humidity control. In exhibition and medical environments, cleanliness matters as much as humidity.
Water for humidification is supplied automatically through the inlet and condensate leaves through the drain, with an independent overflow outlet as a backup. There is no filling or emptying to do.
The DBA-HC145, for example, extracts 145 litres a day, humidifies at 5 kg an hour and covers around 1,500 sq ft. Sizing depends on floor area, air changes, the moisture load on site and the target humidity, so we would recommend a site assessment by our engineers before specifying.
